New page

Welcome!

=What is this?=
This is the documentation for the PKB Dice program.

=Getting started=
==Installation==
To install the program, download it from [http://www.valiant8086.x-sight-interactive.net/pkb here] and run the .exe file. First the installer will recommend that any other versions of the dice program be not currently running, and has a next button. After clicking next, there will be a prompt for the folder to install the program itself in. Just press enter to accept the default if that is satisfactory. The next page asks where to put the start menu shortcuts. if the defaults are satisfactory just press enter again. The installation will then complete, taking about 30 seconds. After the installation has completed, a checkbox is displayed that will, if checked, run the newly installed program when clicking the finish button. finally, click finish.

==Uninstallation==
There are several ways to uninstall the program. Perhaps the easiest is to locate the start menyu folder for the programm. By default this is start menu/all programs/pkb group/dice. click on "uninstall dice" to begin the uninstallation.

Another method of initiating the uninstallation process is to go through add/remove programs (win xp or earlier) or Programs and features (vista or later) and locate the dice program and remove it that way.

A dialogue will appear asking if the user is sure they wish to uninstall the program. They can click yes or no. If they click yes the program will be uninstalled immediately.

==Running the program==
Run the program from the installed sstart menu folder. by default during installation this was start menu/all programs/pkb group/dice. If the user changed the start menu folder during the installation process they should look where they chose to install the start menu folder instead. There is a shortcut in the start menu folder that says "run dice", clicking this should run the program.

=Overview of the program=
This program is designed with D&D players in mind. D&D is a role playing table top game that is largely governed by rolling dice. the players create their characters using chance to some degree by rolling dice to learn things like how lucky their new character will be. It might benefit others also, however. It is a farely advanced accessible )partialy sself voicing) dice rolling program that can roll either single or multiple ddice (up to 30 at once) of various sides (2 to 100). It has been designed to be entuitive and give access to each individual result when rolling multiple dice, allowing the user to reroll several dice at once (rerolling the 1's), or reroll one dice at a time if so desired. The program also includes 12 preset dierolls. These allow the user to enter one keystroke or click one button to roll a particular dieroll. Various choices go anywhere from 1 die with 4 sides to 4 dice with 6 sides. the program is written in Autoit3, and is 100 percent accessible with JAWS and NVDA by my tests. It is more than likely accessible with any other screen reader that could be thrown at it also, however, that includes Microsoft Narrator.

The program should run well on windows xp, but I expect it to work just fine on vista win7 32 and 64 bit, and maybe even windows98. Not positive about the windows98 bit though. the program is fully portable. this means after installing the program the user can copy the installed folder from program files and put it on a flash drive and take the dice program with them on the go if need be. An .ini file is used to save the settings for the program, so even the settings made to the program will travel with the portable version (no registry involved what so ever).

==The main dialogue==
We will go through each control on the main dialogue of the program and give an explanation of them.

===The dice combo box===
This combo box is located in the top left of the program. It is used to select how many dice are to be rolled.

When first launched, the program shows "dice" hhere, Change the value of this combo box to something else like 1 to roll one die or 6 to roll 6 dice at once. When using preset dierolls, this combo box is automatically updated to reflect how many dice the preset dieroll used..

===The sides combo box===
This combo box is located in the top center of the program. It is used to select how many sides the die or dice will have when rolling. When first launched, this combo box will say "sides". Select something else like 2 to roll 2 sided dice or 6 to roll 6 sided dice. When using preset dierolls, this combo box is automatically updated to reflect how many sides the preset dieroll used.

===The results combo box===
